My goal is to inspire a love of dance and instill a lifelong appreciation of the arts for my students. Through my instruction I take care to nurture creativity and artistic abilities while allowing room for self discovery and confidence. My students have a strong intuition of dedication and hard work both in and out of the studio.
My intent in teaching is to focus on strong classical ballet training with classes of other dance forms to compliment. As I am also able to teach jazz, modern, and contemporary, I require that my students take ballet to establish solid technique before furthering their exploration of other dance forms. My goal is to produce well rounded dancers who will be prepared to tackle any type of audition and be ready for any type of job opportunity. While I appreciate and am versed in the various methods of classical ballet, my teaching is most influenced by Russian styles such as Vaganova and Balanchine. It is important to teach students how to prevent injuries by working anatomically, eating healthfully, and resting as necessary.
I approach my teaching with confidence and energy, demonstrating clear combinations which are challenging musically, mentally, and physically. I put a strong emphasis on musicality given my strong music background. I pay equal attention to each student in the classroom so that everyone present may benefit from the instruction. I understand that not all students want to become professional dancers but I know they can benefit from dance classes in many ways learning self-discipline, confidence, and a good work ethic. For those students that are pursuing a professional path, I make sure they are challenged and working to their fullest potential. I also find it important to give them real life facts about dancing professionally and the many options that are out there for them to pursue.
I take great pride in the healthy relationships I have with my students and enjoy watching them grow as dancers and people. I encourage them to pursue their every interest in addition to dance so they can develop emotionally, socially, and mentally as well as physically. I stress the importance of doing well academically and balancing their time in order to perform at their best in all areas. It is my greatest hope that my students will learn to share my love of dance and continue to pass it on to future generations.
